We are excited to announce that the fall Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally is back on! Known as “The Most Biker Friendly Rally in the U.S.,” this year’s autumn rally was initially canceled due to the state’s COVID-19 restrictions. However, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered the state to enter Phase 3 of the Re-Opening Plan on September 25, 2020, which lifted the restrictions which had been blocking the event planners from obtaining a permit to hold the event.
Now that the permit has been approved, the event will be taking place as originally scheduled! Read on for information about the event, as well as safety tips for new bikers and COVID-19 prevention.
Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally is a biannual event that takes place in the spring and fall seasons in Panama City, Florida. This year’s fall rally is set to take place from October 21st to the 25th at various venues around Panama City Beach.
The rally features entertainment such as live music, hundreds of vendors, a bike parade, beauty pageants, poker runs, live stunts, tattoo contests, bike shows, and more. The best part is that entry to the event is completely free. Parking is free, too! You can view the full schedule of events here.
One of the rally’s most exciting events is the demo rides. If you are new to biking or have always wanted to try, this is a great opportunity to experience what it is like to ride a motorcycle.
If you are planning to ride for the first time, keep these safety tips in mind:
Due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19, Thunder Beach Productions, the organization in charge of the event, will be putting safety measures in place to ensure the chances of contracting the virus at the event will be low.
This is welcome news after a motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota that took place in August contributed to an estimated 266,796 COVID-19 cases nationwide. The rally, which has been labeled as a “super spreader” event, serves as a cautionary tale for anyone looking to attend the Thunder Beach rally later this month.
At this year’s Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally, large concerts have been canceled and hand washing and sanitizing stations will be added throughout the event’s venues. Employees working the rally will have their temperature taken daily; staff, volunteers, patrons, and vendors will be required to wear masks. Masks will be distributed free of charge to those who don’t have their own. To read about all the rally’s safety protocols, click here.
